At the end of 2014, following the relocation of the London Borough of Brent council offices, a 1.9-acre site was acquired by Henley Homes.
The 1960’s office building, located on Wembley High Rd, was subsequently demolished in 2017, and work began on the development of Brent House.
The project involved the construction of two seven to ten-storey brick-clad blocks designed by Davy Smith Architects.
The development, just a 5-minute walk from Wembley Stadium station, comprises 248 residential apartments and over 6,000 sq ft of retail space and public space in the two buildings.
Of the apartments completed in 2020, there were 45 affordable rent, 149 shared ownership and 54 private homes created. This development was in partnership with Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association, the largest housing association landlord in Brent.
Included in the design were features such as solar panels, green roofs and accessible balcony space.
All areas that WIDOPAN products have successfully been used time and again, with long-lasting results.
This time, the system chosen was WIDOPAN-FD Polyester Waterproofing System, a three-component, polyester waterproofing resin-based system.
But before this could be applied, a primer was needed in all areas requiring waterproofing.
WIDOPAN-Universal Primer is used for all subsequent seals made of WIDOPAN-FD, and the polyurethane-based primer can be used on almost any substrate.
The primer hardens with exposure to air, and is one component, making it particularly economical to process.
The primer was applied as a sealed film with blanket coverage and sprinkled with kiln-dried sand.
Once the areas that required priming were prepared, it was time for our next product. WIDOPAN-FD Polyester Waterproofing System, encapsulating a 165G reinforcement fleece was used to complete the protection of the treated areas.
The WIDOPAN-FD membrane is both strong and flexible, resistant to root growth and vapour permeable.
This system is BBA Certified and boasts a 20-year certificated Product Guarantee from WIDOPAN.
The finished result was striking, whether it was the green roof, solar panelled area or one of the many roof terraces that made up this impressive structure.
One cold applied liquid waterproofing system with three very different finishes.
