Under REACH regulation, all users of polyurethane products made by reacting diisocyanate are required to complete relevant training in relation to safe use. As of 24th August 2023, training is required for all professional users of PU products (with a total monomeric diisocyanate concentration of > 0.1%) within the EU and UK.
As a manufacturer, we have a responsibility to notify you of the training requirements. It is down to the users and their employees to complete the training and keep records.
Diisocyanates are used in coating, adhesives and sealants and are a family of chemical building blocks mainly used to make polyurethane products.
Diisocyanates are classified as a potential carcinogens and known skin irritants and sensitisers, eye irritants and respiratory sensitiser, which is why enhanced safety measures have been introduced under REACH.
Professional and industrial users of diisocyanates will be responsible for ensuring required training has been complete by themselves and their employees. This is mandatory and is available online.
