Who Are The LRWA?

The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association was initially formed as the BRCMA (Bituminous Roof Coating Manufacturers Association) in the 1970s.They aimed to promote good practices and quality in the roofing industry.

At the beginning of the 1990s, there was considerable growth in non-bituminous products, signalling a shift in material usage.

Due to this new development, the association reinvented itself as ELRA (European Liquid Roofing Association). In doing so, this allowed them to incorporate all liquid roofing systems.

Later in the same decade, the name was changed to recognise that liquid waterproofing was now being used in broader markets. This resulted in the formation of ELWA (European Liquid Waterproofing Association).

In 2010 they acknowledged the need for an industry voice in the UK roofing market and refocused to include Roofing. The association re-launched a final time to become the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association.

What Do The LRWA Offer?

The LWRA aims to raise awareness of the technical and financial benefits of specifying liquid applied waterproofing systems.

However, they also provide independent advice for a wide range of specifiers. The organisation has been recognised as an industry voice and thus became involved with drafting European standards. 

Some of Europe’s leading manufacturers of liquid applied waterproofing products and their approved contractors are members of the association. This diverse member mix means the LRWA act as a collective voice for the industry, guiding industry standards and practices.
