A History Of WIDOPAN UK

Date Published: August 17, 2022

WIDOPAN

Has established itself as one of the leaders in the cold applied liquid waterproofing sector.

Early in the 1990s, our products became available in the UK for the first time and we’ve gone from strength to strength since.

This article will examine a brief history of Widopan UK and the the company’s operations overall.

The History Of WIDOPAN UK

In 1966, Manfred Brüggemann established a processing company for polyester resin, named Kunststofftechnik Wingst.

At first, the material was mainly used in chemical plant construction.

However, the company later adjusted and based on their growing knowledge of polyester resins, a waterproofing system based on unsaturated polyester resin was developed in 1976.

This new system was used on flat roofs, balconies, and parking decks.

The products were sold under the name WIDOPAN and are the foundation for where we stand today. Initially, the company handled the application of its products.

But over time, independent operatives were also trained to use them. By the end of the 1990s, distribution was mainly catering for the roofing industry.

Liquid applied waterproofing systems are one of the fastest growing sectors in the roofing industry.

With our high-quality products manufactured in Germany, WIDOPAN is at the forefront of waterproofing technology.

WIDOPAN UK supplies the UK market with these renowned cold applied liquid waterproofing systems and is based in Brentwood, Essex.

Cold Applied Liquid Waterproofing Reaches The UK

WIDOPAN UK Limited was formed in 2010 as the sole supplier of WIDOPAN products in the UK & Northern Ireland.

We have continued to expand our client base, all from our offices in West Horndon, Essex.

Over the years, we have worked with many of the major developers and construction companies in the industry.

One of the first jobs we undertook was at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children in Bethnal Green, London.

Other prestigious projects include the Olympic Village for the 2012 London Olympics and the Grade II listed County Hall on London’s South Bank.

In 2019, we opened our refurbished Installer Training Centre. Gernot Harms, our German Technical Director and Head of Application Engineering, hosts all WIDOPAN training courses.

Only approved contractors who have been trained in our products and systems can undertake an installation.

As our company grows, our commitment to quality and reliable service continues.
