Waterproofing Roofs – Advantages Of Cold Applied Liquid…

When it comes to protecting buildings and structures from water damage, we’ve come a long way since the days of applying bitumen and hoping for the best.

With the arrival of cold-applied liquid waterproofing, construction and renovation projects have become infinitely safer for both workers and passers by.

With solvent-free liquid waterproofing solutions such as WIDOPUR-LF 2K effectively removing disruption altogether.

Fluid-applied waterproofing systems are frequently less labour-intensive than installing pre-formed sheet membranes, saving up to 60% on labour costs for some projects.

And, because less labour means quicker construction, project timeframes can be shortened considerably.

While many of the advantages of liquid waterproofing are shared by cold and hot fluid applications, a few key differences set WIDOPAN systems above the rest.

Waterproofing Roofs – An Overview

Hot rubberised waterproofing systems use a molten blend of asphalt and rubber polymers to cover large surface areas and protect them against water ingress.

Like cold applied solutions, the liquid is fully bonded and self-terminating, making it a superior option to panelled systems with seams, among other weak points.

As the name suggests, hot-applied waterproofing is used at extremely high temperatures, heated in gas-fired kettles to the manufacturer’s instructions and delivered either by pump or manually, in buckets.

The hot liquid must be kept in a particular temperature range, usually between 175 and 200℃, as it may break down outside these temperatures and fail to cure properly.

Understandably, the high pressure, high temperature and high-risk environments aren’t ideal for busy sites, which is why so many builders and installers, who spend their time waterproofing roofs prefer using cold-applied alternatives.

Waterproofing Roofs – The benefits Of Cold-Applied Liquid Waterproofing

WIDOPAN takes all of the positives offered by the high-temperature alternative, such as a flexible, smooth and seamless finish, but removes the many downsides specific to a hot-liquid application.

Suitable for use in temperatures as low as -5℃, WIDOPAN is temperature-stable, offering greater freedom in application and greatly lessening the health and safety risk on-site.

Its low temperature also allows for faster curing, making treated areas trafficable in as little as two hours, reducing downtime for clients and

Due to the ease of application and our balcony system’s extremely fast curing times, WIDOPAN is the first choice of architects and builders when refurbishing occupied buildings.
